King Molasses tastes the sweet victory on
King of Drag
On June 22, King of Drag, the first-ever drag king competition, debuted on Revry, and 10 drag kings competed for the titular crown. On July 27, King Molasses made history on the finale of the reality competition series, as host Murray Hill crowned them the winner on the grand finale.
It was tough competition as King Molasses was going up against finalist Dick Von Dyke and Henlo Bullfrog for the crown.
Judges Tenderoni and Gottmik were joined by guest judges Oh, Mary! Tony winner Cole Escloa, as well as Real Housewives icon Lisa Rinna, were there to witness the monumental crowning alongside contestants Alexander the Great, Big D, Buck Wylde, Charles Galin King, King Perka Sexxx, Pressure K, and Tuna Melt.

Jinkx Monsoon drags the hell out of
J.K. Rowling
Jinkx Monsoon won RuPaul’s Drag Race season 5 and also won the all-winners All Stars — possibly the most coveted title of the Drag Race franchise. She went on to star in musical productions of Pirates! The Penzance Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, and Chicago. She will now take over the titular role in Cole Escola’s Oh, Mary!.
From August 4 through September 27, she will play the boozy and frantic aspirational cabaret star. Jinkx will be joined by a fresh, new cast that I am dying to see: Michael Urie is set to play Mary’s teacher; Kumail Nanjiani will play Mary’s Husband; and Jenn Harris will step into the role of Mary’s chaperone. Jinkx Monsoon follows in the footsteps of the role that was played by Escola and Tituss Burgess. Oh, Mary! is currently scheduled to continue through January 4, 2026, at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City.
And since Jinkx is set to play Mary starting August 4 (that’s Monday!), she’s on a press blitz! And she was recently on Ziwe’s talk show and pretty much had some words for J.K. Trolling person.
There wasn’t enough Silver Surfer in
Fantastic Four: First Steps
It’s been about a week since Fantastic Four: First Steps was released, and it was fine. It’s what you would expect from a Marvel film. It has just enough soul to pass for a human. It was essentially The Incredibles. It was smart of Marvel Studios to do a reset to avoid the Jonathan Majors of it all and divert us from the Kang the Conqueror multiverse storyline. It was even smart of them to make this a standalone movie so that we don’t have to know anything about any other MCU movie to watch this movie.
The retrofuturism and alternate Earth gave us no sense of when this movie takes place. It’s giving The Jetsons and I live. And as the third iteration of this franchise (fourth if you count this one), I applaud it for capturing the spirit of Marvel’s first family. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka The Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka The Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka The Thing) do the job and I am looking forward to seeing how they are going to fold into Earth 616, the MCU flagship timeline. I’ve also been obsessed with Vanessa Kirby since Ridley Scott's Napoleon. The movie was terrible, but she served C-U-N-T as Josephine.
Speaking of cuntinesss, Julia Garner plays Shalla-Bal, an iteration of Silver Surfer, the herald to the planet-eating Galactus (a rendering of the Marvel villain, btw). As soon as the sleek and silver Shalla-Bal comes sloating in with that SNATCHED body and slicked back hair and says “Your planet has been marked for death” I was like “YES. BITCH. WERK.”
We needed more of her because she was giving Bianca Del Rio in her step down at the season 7 finale of Drag Race.
